Must Pack Items for a Cruise

It can be hard to determine what you need to pack for your first cruise. I learned the hard way that you don’t want to forget these 15 items.

  1. Steamer

You will not find an iron in your stateroom so if you have compact steamer I recommend bringing it with you. There will be at least 2 dressy nights on the cruise ship and you won’t want to show up in a wrinkled dress.

My steamer is linked here.

  • Ziploc Bags

Ziploc bags are perfect to put some snacks in to have by the pool or to bring with you on an excursion.

  • Non-Surge Power Bar

There is a very limited amount of plugs in your stateroom. Bringing a non-surge power bar to give you extra plugs. Make sure to check with your cruise line as they may have different rules for this.

  • Motion Sickness Medicine

If you are a first time cruiser and aren’t really sure about whether you will experience seasickness it is better to be on the safe side and bring some motion sickness medicine with you.

  • Water Bottle or Tumbler

Bringing a reusable water bottle or tumbler will significantly limit how often you have to go to the bar plus it’ll be easier to bring beverages of the ship on port days.

  • Portable Charger

I bring a portable charger wherever I go as I never know when I’ll need a charge. I tend to take a lot of photos on my phone and don’t ever want my phone to die.

You can find a highly reviewed portable charger here.

  • Waterproof Phone Pouch

Waterproof phone pouches are the perfect way to take photos in the ocean without having to worry about getting your phone wet.

My phone pouches are linked here.

  • Small Backpack or Tote

Pack a tote or a small backpack for carrying your belongings to and from the pool and on any of your excursions.

  • Watch

The ships time never changes no matter what port you’re in. However, if you’re relying on your phone for the time your phones time will sync with whichever island you’re on instead of staying with ship time.

  1. Sunscreen

No one wants to get burnt to a crisp so make sure to remember to pack sunscreen. You can purchase it on the ship but it will be significantly more expensive.

  1. Camera

For those that don’t like to bring their cell phones with them on vacation or off the ship make sure you bring a camera so you can capture all of your photos.

  1. Beach Chair Towel Clips

Beach chair towel clips are the easiest way to keep your towel in place when lying on a beach chair.

  1. Headphones

Bring some headphones with you to listen to music or a podcast while laying on the beach or hanging out by the pool.

  1. Compact First Aid Kit

Bring a small first aid kit for any minor issues. There is a doctor on the ship but it is more convenient to deal with any minor issues on your own.

  1. Selfie Stick

Bring a selfie stick for the times there is no one around or you just don’t want to ask but you still won’t to capture that photo.
