Where to Eat in Milos

Milos was by far my favourite Greek island that we travelled to and the food exceeded every single expectation. Every restaurant we went to was phenomenal and there were actually quite a few highly recommended restaurants we just didn’t have the time to try during our stay.

I can honestly say I didn’t have a bad meal in Milos and the service was always great – everyone in Greece is so friendly and laidback!

I did quite a bit of research before our trip so that I had a list of restaurants that looked good and had great reviews. I always struggle with picking a restaurant so I try to have a list of restaurants in different areas that I’ll eat at to make picking a restaurant easier. One thing I always look for during my research is whether a restaurant has received a certificate of excellence. Certificate of Excellence is given to restaurants (accommodations, attractions, vacation rentals, etc.) that consistently provide good service, which is something that is very important to me. For me, good service can really make or break an experience for me.

Armenaki – $$

We stumbled upon Armenaki as it was the restaurant closest to our hotel. Our ferry was delayed by about 2-3 hours so we didn’t end up arriving in Milos until about 10pm that night instead of 7pm like we were supposed to. By that time, we were absolutely starving and wanted anything! Since I tend to be a picky eater, I quickly looked over the menu to see if there was anything that interested me, which thankfully there was.

We quickly grabbed a table and were greeted by a server. I ordered a beef dish that was accompanied with mashed potatoes because you really can’t go wrong with meat and potatoes! Everything was delicious, cooked well and got to the table quite quickly – thank god because I was hangry!

My fiancé was a little less hungry than me as he had purchased a snack on the ferry to Milos. He ended up ordering the cheese and sausage platter off the starter menu, which I of course sampled and it was really delicious. This would definitely make a great starter for 2-4 people.

One cool thing about this restaurant is you can actually do a wine tasting with six different wines. We were actually hoping to return to do the tasting but we just didn’t have enough time as there were too many restaurants I wanted to try during our stay.

Oh Hamos – $$

Oh Hamos actually wasn’t even on my radar and we only stumbled upon it as it was on our way back from Firiplaka to our hotel. We spent most of the morning in Milos exploring and then headed straight to Firiplaka Beach. After spending a few hours there we decided to head out to get a late lunch/early supper. We were pretty hungry by this point so I was quickly searching Trip Advisor to see what was in the immediate area. I came across Oh Hamos and it definitely checked all my boxes – pictures looked great, tons of great reviews and it had a certificate of excellence.

I was a little nervous walking up to the restaurant as it was PACKED but thankfully, we got a table and were seated pretty quickly. We ordered some tzatziki to start, which may have been some of the best tzatziki we had during our entire trip and I ordered a Greek salad and my fiancé ordered a pasta and sauce dish. While waiting for our food to come I read about the history of the restaurant (located at the beginning of the menu) and how all of the food served was locally sourced, which I thought was pretty cool.

The tzatziki came out pretty quick and was delicious with some of the freshest bread I’ve ever eaten. My salad and my fiancé’s pasta followed shortly after. This was hands down the biggest Greek salad I ate during our trip! I’m not even sure if I ate half of it so I ended up taking home the rest to have later that night. My fiancé’s pasta was a big portion as well and he really enjoyed it (I didn’t try it because I don’t actually like pasta sauce – that’s right, I eat mine plain with butter, garlic powder, salt and pepper!).

My entire experience at Oh Hamos was great from the food to the service – highly recommend!

Enalion – $$

Enalion was definitely my favourite restaurant we ate at while we were in Milos. I definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan on going as it is a really busy spot and has probably less than 30 tables. Everything on the menu sounded great and was prepared fresh!

We ordered some tzatziki to start with some fresh bread and I ordered a pasta & shrimp dish for my entrée and my fiancé ordered a lamb and rice dish. When we placed our order, I requested the heads be removed from the shrimp as it personally creeps me out! They had no problem doing this for me, thank god!

Our dishes came out pretty quick, which was great considering how busy it was at the restaurant. While we were enjoying our meal, several people were turned away due to how busy the restaurant was.

Unfortunately, we were so full that we didn’t get to try out any of the desserts but I’m sure they would be just as good as the meals were.

I am hoping to have the opportunity to go back to Milos in the future and will revisit any of these restaurants!
