Labadee, Haiti: What You Need to Know

If your cruise is stopping at the port of Labadee, Haiti then you will get to experience Royal Caribbean’s 260-acre private resort. Along with five incredible beaches, you will also enjoy all the comforts of the ship. As it is leased by Royal Caribbean, all of the food and drinks (if you’ve purchased a drink package) are included. There are paved trails throughout the resort that make it wheelchair-friendly.

You can spend the day laying on the beach or you can opt to do one of the excursions (at your cost). The first time my cruise stopped in Labadee, I opted to spend my day soaking up the sun taking breaks to swim in the ocean. My second time at this port, I opted to do the zipline that runs over the ocean, which I definitely recommend for any thrill seekers. After the zipline, we spent the rest of the day laying on the beach, eating and drinking! This gave me the perfect balance of thrill and relaxation. If you’re looking for something different to do you can do some watersports or hit up the aqua park here.

If you decide to relax on the beach, you can grab a spot in the sand or you can rent some beach chairs. I always try to get a spot with some shade or an umbrella so that I’m not in the sun the entire time. If you’re looking for a bit more space to stretch out then you should definitely consider renting one of their beach cabanas. If you do decide to rent a cabana, you should make sure to rent it in advance as they may sell out. Cabana’s can be rented at Nellie’s Beach or Barefoot Beach.

There are also a few small shops you can grab souvenirs from and tons of different spots for photo ops. Keep in mind that any souvenirs or drinks served in souvenir cups will not be included and you will have to pay for those separately so make sure you do bring some cash with you if that’s something you are interested in.

This will probably be the most relaxing stop of your cruise, which I recommend you take full advantage of. I personally love an easy beach day so I always look forward to stopping in Labadee for the day!
