NYC Winter Packing List

If you’ll be visiting NYC this winter you will want to make sure you pack the right items for your trip. In this post, I will share with you everything you need to bring with you this winter!

Make sure you check the weather in advance of your trip as the weather can certainly fluctuate. When I was there in 2018, my last day in the city ended up being sunny and 10 degrees so I didn’t need as many layers as I had the previous days. Layers will be important. You can always take off layers but you can’t put on layers that you don’t have.

Winter Coat

A good winter coat is an essential item you’ll want to make sure to bring with you. You’ll most likely be spending a lot of time outside exploring the city and a good winter coat will ensure that you’re warm enough to do so.

Winter Boots

You will be doing a lot of walking while in NYC so you want to make sure the boots you pack are both warm and comfortable. The last thing you want is cold and/or hurting feet while exploring the city.

Thermal Socks

Along with good warm boots, you’ll want pack some thermal socks. These will help keep your feet warm all day. Staying warm will be key to enjoying each day you are there to the fullest. I recommend checking out a pair like these.

Sweaters

Sweaters will be key to helping you stay warm while looking cute. I recommend packing a couple depending how long you’ll be in NYC as you’ll want to wear one each day you plan to be out exploring the city. A good turtle neck is a great option to wear during the day.

Crossbody Bag

Crossbody bags are my favourite type of purse to travel with. They allow me to bring my necessities around with me without having to carry around a heavy purse.

Portable Charger

A portable charger will always be included on any packing list I make. This is probably the number 1 item I use during my travels as I use my phone to take all my pictures and to navigate myself around the city. This is a must have to ensure your battery doesn’t go dead while you’re out touring the city. You can buy my favourite one here.

Lip Balm

Winter can get pretty cold and windy, which means your lips are going to dry out pretty quickly. You can buy my favourite lip balm here.

Scarf

A scarf is a great addition to your outfit to help you keep warm while exploring the city. Bring a neutral coloured one so you can match it with multiple outfits during your trip.

Hat and Gloves

A hat and gloves will also be key to helping you stay warm while you’re in NYC especially on those windy days.

NYC is a great city no matter what season and Christmas in New York is one of my favourite times of year. It may be cold but it’s definitely worth it and if you pack right, you’ll have no problem surviving the winter weather.
