If you’re anything like me it’s only January and the winter blues are already setting in. In an effort to survive these very cold and very long winters in Canada I must escape the cold to somewhere warm.
I’m rounding up some of the best destinations to help you escape the cold and beat these winter blues!
Barbados
Barbados is hands-down one of my favourite Caribbean islands. It has the clearest water and the whitest sand I’ve ever seen. The people are very friendly and the entire island is extremely beautiful!
Bahamas
For a long time Bahamas was my dream vacation – the clear water, the white sand and the energy is just so intoxicating. Bahamas is an incredible place to visit with literally the friendliest locals I’ve ever met! There is so much to do and see that I can guarantee you won’t get bored!
Columbia
Columbia has been rising in popularity over the last 5 years. The cobblestone streets and the colourful colonial buildings bring in a wide variety of travellers looking to explore the country, rich culture and beaches. Columbia has tons to offer with incredible cuisine and coffee!
Panama
Panama is located in South America and borders Costa Rica. Its coastline is over 1500 miles long, contains tons of mountains, dormant volcanoes and beautiful beaches. On the Caribbean side of the island is a surfers paradise! Panama is an adventurers haven with hiking the mountains, jungle or volcanoes and zip lining. If you’re not overly adventurous, sit back and relax on the beach, go visit sloths or charter a boat to go whale watching.
Mexico
Mexico has always been a popular destination – it’s warm, beautiful and isn’t going to cost a fortune. There is something for everyone in Mexico whether it be exploring the ancient ruins, snorkeling or relaxing on the beach.
Hawaii
Hawaii is the perfect destination for everyone whether you’re looking to enjoy some family time or a romantic vacation with your spouse. You can relax on the beach, explore their national parks and waterfalls or learn about their history and culture. Take a helicopter ride and explore the island with the best birds eye view!
Costa Rica
Costa Rica has always been extremely popular because of its beautiful rainforest, volcanoes and cascading waterfalls. Costa Rica is the perfect destination for any adventure seekers.
Cuba
Cuba is one of the most popular destinations for people looking to travel on a budget. Aside from the fact that Cuba is a cheaper destination it is rich in culture, history and has some pretty incredible beaches.
Antigua
Antigua is the perfect beach destination with tons of beautiful beaches, coves, reefs and tons of history to explore. Kite surfing, snorkeling and scuba diving are extremely popular water sports in Antigua.
Honduras
Honduras has an incredible history with beautifully preserved ruins known as the Copan Ruins from the Maya civilization. You can also head over to the island of Rotan, which is home to some of the most beautiful beaches. Honduras has tons of mountains to hikes and jungles to explore. Travel Tip: Be cautious when exploring these areas as you can run into animals and plants you are not familiar with.
