Where to Eat in San Francisco

During the short time I spent in San Francisco I wanted to make sure that I hit some of the best restaurants in the area. It being my first time in San Francisco I did not know where to start. San Francisco is a large area with many great restaurants so I decided to reach out to people on Facebook.

The Stinking Rose

The first restaurant that was recommended to me was The Stinking Rose. I didn’t know anything about the restaurant but was intrigued by the name. After doing some research online I quickly realized why this restaurant had the unique name The Stinking Rose; it was a garlic restaurant. I developed a strong love for garlic at an early age thanks to my grandfather who grew it in his garden every year and my father who put garlic in just about every recipe he made. I had heard from my friend’s mom (the woman who recommended the restaurant) that I should make a reservation if I wanted to get a table and she was not wrong! I had gone online and made the reservation a few weeks in advance of our arrival.

We had arrived at the restaurant and it was packed! Thanks to the reservation I had made we were quickly seated at a table in the back with a view of the street. Once we were seated I knew this restaurant was going to be amazing. It had a vibrant and exciting atmosphere and you knew everyone was there for the same reason, garlic.

After carefully examining the menu I had finally decided on the Garlic Roasted Potato Onion Soup to start and the Forty Clove Garlic Chicken. It was my goal to consume as much garlic as possible, which is why I had to try this chicken! Of course after my soup and my main I had absolutely no room left for any dessert, but dessert wasn’t why I came to this restaurant.

Scoma’s

Scoma’s was another restaurant that came recommended to me by a friend. Scoma’s is seafood restaurant located on the water down from pier 43. As an avid seafood lover, I came to this restaurant with one thing in mind, eat as much seafood as possible. This was hands down the best and freshest seafood restaurant I’ve ever been to.

I started off by ordering the lobster bisque. The lobster bisque was fresh, hot and the best I’ve had to date. For my main I had ordered crab. The crab came to the table in a bowl smothered in garlic butter and did not disappoint. Unfortunately, I had eaten so much seafood that I didn’t have any room for dessert. While at this restaurant I saw all of the other dishes being brought to other tables and each one looked just as good as the one I had.

Both these restaurants are definitely great places to visit while in San Francisco and definitely made my short time in San Francisco that much better!
