Milos is definitely my favourite Greek island. I was originally drawn to Milos because of Sarakiniko Beach; I hadn’t seen anything like it before. After falling in love with Sarakiniko Beach I began researching more about Milos and when I found out it was also home to 70 other incredible beaches I knew I had to go!
Milos has 3 different popular areas you can chose to stay in during your stay, which I will break down a bit further for you.
Pollonia
We decided to stay in Pollonia based on a recommendation I received from a travel agent. I was a little hesitant at first because Pollonia is pretty small in comparison to Adamantas so I wasn’t sure if it would enjoy it as much. Honestly, I am so happy I ended up taking the recommendation and staying Pollonia because it definitely surpassed any expectations, I had for it.
We ended up staying staying at En Milo, which is a boutique hotel owned by a very sweet couple in Pollonia. It was recently renovated and looks incredible! The room we stayed in was beautiful and really spacious. I also loved that each room had a porch area. We had a view of the ocean so I really enjoyed sitting on the porch and enjoying the view.
When we booked our stay with En Milo we opted for the option that included breakfast. I’m generally not a big breakfast person so I usually prefer to stay at our hotel for breakfast or I’ll stop by a small local bakery to pick something up. I was actually pretty impressed with the breakfast options they had to offer – there was a couple different options to pick from and everything was made freshly.
We arrived to our hotel pretty late so the next morning when we were enjoying our breakfast, one of the owners sat down with us to go over a map of the island and what some of the best things to do were. Pollonia is located on the Northern part of the island so if you find it pretty windy and want to enjoy the beach I suggest heading to a beach on the Southern part of the island, more specifically, Firiplaka Beach as it won’t be nearly as windy as it is in Pollonia.
Pollonia beach is also located right across the street from En Milo if you don’t want to make the drive to the Southern part of the island (approximately 20 minutes). If the beach isn’t really your cup of tea, En Milo has a beautiful infinity pool with cabanas you can relax on.
My favourite thing about Pollonia was definitely how walkable it was. Everything we needed was located within walking distance from our hotel and it was really easy to navigate.
If you do end up staying in Pollonia you will want to make sure to rent a car, scooter or quad. We opted for a quad and it was the perfect way to explore Milos. We rented our quad from Travel Me to Milos, which also offers boat tours.

Adamas (also known as Adamantas)
Adamas is actually the first town you will see if you travel to Milos by ferry. Adamas is the largest down on the island and the busiest. Since the ferry docks in Adamas it is usually pretty busy with tourists getting on and off the ferry. However, with a bigger town comes more restaurants, hotels and things to do.
Adamas is the best place to stay if you don’t want to rent a car or quad. It is definitely walkable and you will save some money but I do highly recommend renting a car or quad to explore the island because it truly is an incredible experience.
Milos Bay Suites – this hotel is less than 10 minutes walking distance from the port and is very reasonably priced. With the lower price point does come less facilities. They do not offer breakfast and there is no pool, which if you’re more of a beach person like myself this won’t bother you too much.
Hotel Aeolis – this hotel is also less than 10 minutes walking distance from the port and priced similarly to Milos Bay Suites. They also do not have a pool but there is a complimentary breakfast you can take full advantage of.
*This hotel does require a minimum two-night stay so keep that in mind if you are planning on moving hotels on the island.
Santa Maria Village Resort & Spa – this hotel is a little further out than the other two hotels but is a great option if you want to be a little further from all the hustle and bustle of town but still very much walkable – depending on how much walking you like to do. It has a pool and breakfast is included with your stay.
Plaka
If you are wanting to stay in a traditional mountain village then I recommend staying somewhere in Plaka. Plaka is located approximately 15 minutes (by vehicle) from the port so you would need to rent a car or quad if you would like to get around the island easily.
Vivere a Plakes Milos – Vivere is a small apartment complex located in Plaka approximately 4 minutes (by car) from some Plaka’s main attractions, such as the Catacombs or Plathiena Beach. They offer several different apartment sizes depending on how many people will be staying there (1-5 people).
Milo Milo Suites – this hotel is also located closely to some of Plaka’s main attractions and only an 8-minute drive from Sarakiniko Beach. The rooms here are truly unique and unlike anything I’ve encountered during my research on Milos and they also provide a complimentary breakfast.
I definitely will be going back to Milos in the future to hit up more of their amazing beaches and will definitely be staying at En Milo in Pollonia. My stay in Milos was absolutely incredible and I truly believe the owners of En Milo helped make our time there that much better!
