Zakynthos is a stunning Greek island most famously known for its Shipwreck Beach. However, it is so much more than this one beach. There are tons of great beaches and so many fun things to do while on this island. Here are some of my favourite things to do on the island.
Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Beach)

Navagio Beach is easily the most popular attraction on the island. It is a shipwreck on a small beach surrounded by 200 meter high cliffs. There are two ways to see the beach, either by sea or from the top of the cliffs. If you want to see it both ways then I definitely recommend booking a tour. I opted for the tour as I wanted to see it both ways and it did not disappoint. It is stunning from up high or closely from the water.
Be careful when taking pictures on top of the cliffs as the rocks can be slippery and unstable.
Blue Caves

After Navagio Beach, the tour headed to the blue caves to admire and snorkel. Admire the turquoise water and swim in the caves. You may also see dolphins or sea turtles in this area. These natural caves are carved out by erosion and are a great place to snorkel.
If you don’t choose to take the above tour you can also rent a boat and do it on your own. You can visit the blue caves and explore the island by boat.
Xigia Beach

Xigia Beach is another stunning beach surrounded by large cliffs. The beach is beautiful but it is a sulfur hot spring so be prepared for the smell. If you end up doing the shipwreck tour then you will also stop at this beach for a short while. You can head to the beach or relax and enjoy the views.
Snorkel with the Turtles
The beaches around Zakynthos are home to the Loggerhead sea turtle. You will likely spot them during your trip but if you’d like an opportunity to see them up close and personal then I would try one of the tours.
Venetian Castle of Bohali
The Bohali Castle is located just outside the town sitting on a tall hill overlooking the ocean. You will learn more about the history of the Venetians that once ruled this island. This is a great stop after exploring Zante town.
Banana Beach
Banana Beach is a large stretch of sandy beach for you to enjoy the day at. There is tons of sunbeds and umbrellas that you can rent for a fee. You can also enjoy the few bars and restaurants around the beach while you are here.
Myzithres Viewpoint
If you’re visiting the village of Keri than you must stop and see the Keri cliffs. These stunning white limestone cliffs stand 300 meters tall and are a great place to stop and enjoy the view and get some photos.
To get to this viewpoint you will need to park near the Keri Lighthouse and walk the dirt road to the cliff edge.
St. Nicholas Beach
St. Nicholas Beach is another great sandy beach located not too far from Banana Beach. There is also sunbeds and umbrellas to rent and you can enjoy the food and drinks at the beach club. If you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous then there is also jet ski’s you can rent.
Porto Limnionas Beach
Porto Limnionas is not your typical beach and is the complete opposite from Banana Beach. The water here is surrounded by rocks and steeps cliffs with stunning blue water. There is also small caves here that you can explore here.
Zante Town
The capital is most commonly known by its Italian name, Zante. The charming town has some lovely churches, restaurants, shops and a great nightlife. You should spend a couple hours walking around the town and exploring but you don’t need to spend too long here.
