Picking where to stay is always my least favourite part of planning a trip. I always try to stay in the area I plan to spend most of my time. I typically plan out everything I want to do and see before I start looking at hotel or AirBnb options. Because I recommend renting a car or ATV while on the island, you have the freedom to stay anywhere on the island.
Zakynthos Town – this area will probably be the best place for you to stay if this is your first time on the island. The airport and the port for the ferry are super close. There are tons of restaurant options and you will want to explore the town a bit anyways.
Laganas – this area is known for its nightlife so it’ll be very popular with the younger crowd and anyone looking to party.
Tsvili – Tsvili is a charming coastal town with a large stretch of beach. This is a great area for families or anyone looking to enjoy the beach. There is a ton of great restaurant options so you won’t have to venture too far.
Agios Nikolaos – Agios Nikolaos is a small village with a cute harbor and stunning beaches. This is a great area for any beach lover to enjoy. The town is also close to the Blue Caves and Shipwreck Beach.
Vasilikos – this is another great area with stunning beaches. It is also home to Dafni Beach, which is arguably one of the nicest beaches in Zakynthos.
I have broken down my hotel suggestions by budget friendly, mid-range and luxury. Your budget may influence where you will be staying on the island so keep that in mind when deciding.
Budget – Majestic Hotel & Spa, Lesante Classic Luxury Hotel & Spa and Avalon Palace Hotel
Mid-Range – Crystal Beach Hotel, Contessina Hotel and Domes Aulus Zante
Luxury – Aliv Stone Suites & Spa, Olea All Suite Hotel and Zante Maris Suites
If I’m ever back on the island I will be staying at Contessina Hotel as the prices are reasonable and the hotel looks fantastic. They also have some really great reviews, which I always check out before booking a hotel.
